Extremely impressive, solid laptop at a great price, October 27, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Lenovo G770 10372WU 17.3-Inch Laptop (Dark Brown) (Personal Computers) We decided to upgrade from an HP Pavilion that was just entering it's 3rd year of life. Well, we didn't decided - the Pavilion decided for us by continually overheating.
When I reviewed which laptop to replace it with, I needed the following items to be true: 17 inches, good with video games, HDMI port and could handle memory intensive things like converting VHS to DVD. Plus wouldn't break the bank nor had no known "heat" issues.
After doing the research, the Lenonvo "G" series stood out on top, so we went for it. I'm even more impressed now.
Likes:
* A full, true 17 inch monitor with 1600x900 resolution. Colors are goregeous and the screen is crystal clear.
* Keyboard is a nice easy touch - it's quiet.
* Touchpad has a light texture, making it pleasant to use.
* SUPER easy start up, right out of the box. I've been setting up computers for a long time, both personally and professionally, and never had one go this easily.

I liked the features, and the price was very good. I went out to several stores to look at the machine, and experience the keyboard, mouse and the various switches and buttons. This was my first Lenovo and I wanted to be sure it felt right.
It is a very nice machine. It has a quick boot feature that is just wonderful. It lets you know how quick it is by opening a small window that tells you how long it took to boot up. I have been averaging around 40 to 45 seconds. That is pretty fast. It is a small feature, but it adds to the experience.
Everything you usually use, such as USB plugs, volume control, etc. are placed where they are convenient to use. Overall the computer is pretty fast. After a month of use, my experience has been positive. I have 2 other laptops, much more expensive. A Sony Vaio and an Asus. The Lenovo is a great addition. It looks good, with a bright, clear display, and it started right up with no problems. I installed an optical mouse on it and hooked it up to the internet through a Netgear wireless router, once again with no problems at all. I set up my mothers email access through the Windows Live Mail that came with the Laptop, and that works great also. This Lenovo laptop also seems to be very fast speed wise, and the internal speakers sound just fine too. After bringing my mother up to speed on it for about a week, I have found nothing to complain about, as it is everything I could have hoped for.
